FAQs last updated 15 August 2022.

When will A Rake Of His Own be published?

It is currently up for pre-order for release in October 2022.

How does A Rake of His Own relate to the Stariel quartet?

Whilst A Rake of His Own is set after the events of The King of Faerie, it is intended as self-contained spin-off centred on a different main character (Marius Valstar). It does include cameos of some characters from the quartet, but in theory it should make sense even to someone who hasn’t read the main series. It’s much more romance-focused than the main series and also a murder mystery!

Will there be more spin-off Stariel books about other characters?

Who knows! I don’t have plans for more Stariel books after Marius’s book at this stage, although that might change in the future.

What are your future writing plans?

To keep writing books! Undoubtedly more romantic fantasy, because that’s how I roll. I like to keep my plans close to my chest until they are more fully formed.

I am in New Zealand – can I buy a paperback directly from you?

Not currently, unless you are a bookstore, in which case – email me and we’ll work something out!

If you are an individual wanting a copy, you can ask your local bookstore to order a copy for you, check out your local library, or check out this post for a list of online retailers.

Are there hardbacks of Stariel available?

Currently, no, but one day I’ll get round to it, I’m sure!

Are there audiobooks of Stariel available?

Yes! These are produced by Podium and you can find them on Audible.

What are your books about?

Faeries! Magic! Family! Drama! Romance! Excessive numbers of exclamation points! You can read the blurb for the first book in the Stariel Series and the first two chapters here.

What kind of books do you like to read?

I read mainly fantasy and romance, though I like other genres too. My favourite authors include Terry Pratchett, Tamora Pierce, Mercedes Lackey, Georgette Heyer, Brandon Sanderson, and Naomi Novik.

Where do you hang out on the internet?

Instagram is where you’re most likely to find me posting pictures of pretty books, coffee, and my cats. I also have a Tiktok, a Facebook page, and Twitter account you can follow. If you want to get in touch, send me a message on any of those platforms, or shoot me an email to aj AT ajlancaster DOT com
